[HIRAETH Project — Participation & Consent Guidelines]
The narrative you share about memory and loss will be transformed into a still life painting through the artist's visual art practice. Please read the following guidelines carefully before participating.
1. Submission & Creative Guidelines
All works are created solely by the artist, and each piece requires a minimum of two weeks or more to complete. This project does not reproduce images based on photographs. Instead, still life paintings are created through the artist's artistic reinterpretation of the written narrative submitted. Therefore, photo files will not be accepted — only text submissions are received. Please write in specific sentences rather than single words. You may describe the experience of loss, the changes it brought to your life, or objects from your memories you wish to be included in the painting. In-depth descriptions of your emotions — past or present — are also welcome. The scale and format of the work will be determined solely by the artist based on the content of the narrative and artistic judgment. Each person may submit only one story.
2. Cancellation & Withdrawal
If you wish to cancel your submission, please send a cancellation request to the confirmation email within 3 days of submission. Please note that cancellation may not be possible if work on your piece has already begun.
3. Use of Submissions & Copyright
Your submitted story may be used anonymously in the project's website archive, offline exhibitions, and archive book publication and sales. The copyright of all artworks belongs to the artist.
4. Exhibition & Archive Book Publication
This is an official art project selected for support by a cultural foundation. Completed works and stories are planned to be published through the website archive, offline exhibitions, and an archive book. All stories and works will be recorded and presented entirely anonymously across the website, offline exhibitions, and archive book. Offline exhibitions may be held in collaboration with commercial galleries, where works may be made available for purchase by the general public. (If you do not wish your work to be sold, please select 'Opt out of general sale' in the form below. Opting out will not affect your participation in the exhibition.) All revenue generated from exhibitions and book sales will be used exclusively to cover ongoing project costs, including gallery commissions, framing, materials, and book printing. No revenue share or royalties will be distributed to contributors.
5. Contributor Benefits & Priority Purchase Rights
As a token of appreciation, you will receive a complimentary [Archive Book] and [Collectible Art Postcard Set] featuring the still life works, shipped after the project concludes. (If you do not wish to receive these, they will not be sent.) Once all official exhibitions and book publications are complete, contributors will be granted a 'Priority Purchase Right' — the first opportunity to acquire the original painting created from their story. The price will be set at a special rate lower than the general art market price (approximately KRW 30,000–40,000 per ho). This priority purchase opportunity will remain open for 4 weeks from the date of the notification email.
6. Anonymity & Personal Data Collection
Your identity will be strictly protected and kept anonymous throughout the project. Only your email address will be collected at the time of submission, for the purpose of updates and scheduling. Your name and shipping address for book and postcard delivery will be collected individually and securely via email at a later date, once book publication is confirmed.
By clicking the Submit button, you confirm that you have read and agreed to all of the above.
